Owl

Friday 3rd March 2023

We have been really busy during the first couple of weeks of this half term. Our topic is 'Ready Steady Grow' and we have started by looking at farms and the lifecycle of a chick. We have also been looking at animals that do not live in England and why they don't. We will soon be looking more at plants and will start to grow our own plants.

In Maths we have been busy comparing numbers and looking at more and less. We have also been adding and subtracting numbers up to 6 and will continue to do this to 10 over the rest of this half term. We use lots of physical resources to support our learning.

The children in Owl Class take part in 'Drawing Club' and they absolutely love this, they have to draw pictures and write a code number and password. They are always based on a story, a tale or an animation. Our password is a sentence and we have been working hard at using our phonics to sound out and write words. We have also been looking at capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

As always, the children have worked so hard and we are looking forward to the rest of our half term.

Friday 9th December 2022

We can't believe the children have nearly completed their first term in Owl Class. They have all been brilliant and have worked so hard!

In Literacy we have been looking at the story 'Stick Man' and the children have used their knowledge of phonics to sound out words to make their own books. We have been so impressed with how well they are doing with learning their sounds and using them to write words.

In Maths the children have been looking at all of the numbers to 10. They are practising counting to 10 and looking at how to write their numbers.

The children have been working really hard with learning their dances and songs for the Christmas Nativity and they are very excited to share this with you soon.

We hope you all have a lovely Christmas and enjoy the well deserved break!

Friday 18th November 2022

We have been really busy in Owl Class over the last few weeks. Our topic is 'Marvelous Machines' and we have been looking at how machines have changed over time. In Literacy we have been looking at traditional fairy tales and the children made their own houses for the “Three Little Pigs” in Forest School. The children then created a wanted poster so that they could stop the wolf and catch him, they had to use their knowledge of phonics carefully to help them write. In Phonics the children have been learning their set 1 sounds and are now beginning to read some simple words.

Well done Owl Class!

Friday 30th September 2022

We have had such a fantastic start to the year and we are so impressed with how well the children have settled in to life at Priorswood. We have been busy exploring the class and school environment and the children have really enjoyed Forest School sessions. In Science, we have been learning about parts of the body as well as understanding our emotions. In Maths we have been learning to count to 5 and ordering numbers to 5. The children are really enjoying learning phonics and are beginning to learn Set 1 sounds.

Well done Owl Class!
