A message from Carly Ellis

A message from Carly Ellis Christmas and New Year seem like such a distant memory!  I do hope everyone had a restful break. The children have started the new year calmly and with enthusiasm for learning!  We have just started using different exercise books for our humanities learning which the children really like.  We have also just started teaching our science themes weekly instead of as a block at the end of each half term.  The children have been speaking very enthusiastically to me about this so I am pleased that this change has inspired a love for science.  Before Christmas I asked the children what they would like to do more of in science and a majority of them said ‘to make more potions’!  I am hoping that in a few weeks they will be able to articulate this in a more scientific way!  I have had a lot of conversations with the children about the curriculum and they are all saying that they are really enjoying all the learning in the wider curriculum and I am sure that with all this exposure, we will be uncovering talents that even they didn’t know existed.  I am really proud of what we offer here at Priorswood and I am grateful for all the hard work from the teachers and support staff.  They really have been working relentlessly in order to provide the best education to the children. As you are aware, we have sent home knowledge organisers at the start of our science and main driver (History or Geography) projects.  We would really like your support in encouraging the children to learn the information on the sheet.  We will be developing this information through our project but in order for new information to stick, it needs something to stick to, which is why the very basic knowledge is sent home in the form of a knowledge organiser.  The children will be taking part in some fun quizzing as the project unfolds.  It is my mission this term to relaunch our FOPs!  I did Dojo about this a while back and I have noted those who showed an interest.  Please, if you are interested and fully support everything we do here, then we would love to hear from you!  I would like to get some dates in the diary as soon as possible.  Thank you. We are looking forward to welcoming Mrs Coussell to the Priorswood team, She will be teaching Hedgehog Class as of 31st January.  Categories: 1 CategorySchool News
